Lion references Charlie in one interview I read.
He totally don’t understand Charlie system. Over the years I have found so many coaches/athletes want to ref Charlie but have no idea how the system works. They try and ref Charlie to bring credibility to what they are trying to say. 30mins later they try and discredit Charlie by saying his stuff is outdated or his athletes used drugs etc.

Another solid performance 11.78.
A lot of masters goin to Canada and skipped usatf
How you know? When you say a lot do you mean many of the top one’s? Canada this yr or next yr?
The top guys goin to a meet up there this year. I know Jeff and a few other 35+ Guys. I’m surprised that many showed up to Iowa. That place was terrible for national meet. The flights were expensive, then the airport only flys on certain days and the airport was like a hour away. Plus the outrageous meet fees they charge.
Next year is the champs in Canada.
My friend ran last weekend… I didn’t even check the fees etc so I didn’t know all the details… Can’t be anymore expensive then Canada next year?
I’ve been thinking lots about this comment with regards to what I see in track and field over the past 30 years and decade.
I’m curious what any of you think regarding major improvements in track and field and or speed and power in the last decade and in the past 30 years?
I had a debate with another young coach on youtube. He said Charlie stuff is good but outdated… I don’t understand why coaches want to use all these silly looking drills… I remember Charlie saying the athletes he saw at meets that was a master of all the drills - those were the one’s that wasn’t that fast. About 10yrs ago I tried sharing the old video of Charlie with the Detroit lions and the coaches laugh because the drills were outdated and old… smh
Unfortunately “simple doesn’t sell” in this day and age. It seems people today are sold more on the garnish as opposed to simple, quality main ingredients.
I’d rather spend my cash on a nice trip to Canada where your gonna get good scenery, facilities and comp. I think my age group for usatf may have ran just a final.
Exactly! It’s like they are saying Neapolitan pizza is outdated.
“You need to throw some pepperoni, mushrooms, and sun-dried tomatoes on there. And while you’re at it, use a cream sauce instead.”

I really want to compete against the top dogs in the 45+. I went to an event 3 weeks ago where I thought Laynes 100 and Adkins LJ would be competing. Nope, but I did some starts in the infield and LJ approaches on the runway after a nice warm-up.
Killers in the 45+ 100m

That one guy in Houston who used to train with Mike Young 400.
