The footballer Diego Maradona is set to celebrate his happiest birthday for years after announcing that he is to be the national coach of the Argentine team. It is a spectacular comeback for the hugely popular star, who has battled obesity and cocaine addiction. For English fans he will always be the man who put England out of the 1988 World Cup with two goals. Argentina went on to win the cup. Now a grandfather, he hosts his own TV show. Diego Maradona is 48 today.
