Lower body exercises for athlete with history of knee problems.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

reverse leg press and explosive medi balls

Is the problem chronic or rehabable (if there is such a word)

chronic, but definitely has the ability to improve. This person wishes to gain size and strength in his legs, has had ops on both knees due to previous dislocations on both knees. (was a dancer). I’d say explosive exercise are out for now. I’m more talking about gym related resistance exercises.

not sure why the need to increase size until problem solved

this area of the form is for performance athletes, thought this athlete was out of options in the weight room and needed other means to improve power?

Not sure why a dancers knee condition needs to be in the expert discussion section?

Never mentioned that this athlete was out of options in the weight room.
Sorry, never realised that a dancer wasn’t a performance athlete…will re-direct to another part of the forum, where I won’t be patronised…(I am a sprinter by the way…was just helping out a friend…).

Agreed.

Strength will improve the problem, not size. Size however, will be a result of strength gained.

How about isometric contrations? Wall sits?

nap- you missed the point, he is a runner and used to be a dancer.

Actually, its not.

Try backward sled dragging or walking up-hill backwards. Don’t let the heel touch in either case and get full extension at the ankle and knee.

TNT

Can it be moved then?

edit: Oops, sorry…done!
