Yesterday I saw the highlights of the indoor meet in Linz, Austria on TV. I think it is the only track meet where the opening ceremony had a ballet number! Being the home of Mozart ane the Vienna Opera, I guess they want to remind us that there is culture here?!
Merlene Ottey at 42 ran a 7.17 60m to win. Unbelievable. 7 women have posted faster 60m this season, but as Merlene said in her post race interview, `anything can happen in Birmingham´.
Garcia (Cuba) won the 60mH in 7.50 and is the 4th fastest this season at 7.47. Trammell is pretty hot right now?
A Latvian, Stanislavs Olijars was 2nd in 7.52 (60mH) and is 7th fastest this year? Comments from our Latvian members?
Living in Austria, I´ll be pulling for Steffi Graf in the 800m next weekend. She ran a comfortable 2:0091 and the last 200m was 29.28, I believe. Can she finally win a big race, or will Mutola or the Slovenian girl beat her again?
Living here has pros and cons like everywhere. One pro - 15 min by bus, car or bike to ski lifts.
Another pro - the TV coverage next weekend for the World Indoors! Will be replacing the remote batteries soon!
