According to one of the threads, amino acid imbalance can lead to a variety of problems, insomnia etc. If this is the case, L-glutamine supplements would certainly fall under this category. Any idea as to why these problems arise or indeed what mechanisms are being disturbed within the body?
since were bak on the gluamine topic again… hoew many grams a day are you taking? i am taking between 10-15
What does it do for you exactly? Should you take it before or after training. how long till I see results
regeneration purposes. decrease cortisol response.
Most whey proteins are fortified with Glutamine (peptides), so you don’t need as much as some say if you are using one of these whey proteins. I would say that anywhere from 5-20 grams a day (including what is in the protein) is plenty, depending on how you feel in your training. Drink lots of water too as Glutamine is a cell volumizer (pulls fluid into the cells) like creatine. There are lots of good Glutamines on the market. Some mix well and others not too well. But I think for the most part they are all effective…but of course as always there are exceptions.
Are the glutamine peptides worth the extra money over L-glutamine?
O.B
depends on who you listen to. the way the industry works is studies and data emerge to support each company’s product line so its tough to take anything for what its worth.
as herb said, most quality whey proteins are pumped with extra glut (either L or pep) so the effectiveness of both would vary from person to person. keep all other things the same in your program and run through 200gms of peptides and then 200gms of L and see if you notice a difference. one thing i will say is that L-glut mixes and tastes alot better.
I was going to get a mix from proteinfactory.com probably a 50/50 mix of casein/whey isolate but was trying to decide which glutamine to put in it. Do you know if thir protein already has enough?
