Kweli runs 60m (First Meet)

I ran my first meet of the year after suffering injury after injury. I had back spasms in my off season training. had a groin problem in December …and starined my hamstring in February…

I ran the 60m On the weekend and ran a 6.83. It wasn’t really a great time but a Pb…by only .05s.

I don’t know but I had been soaking 5 days upto the first day of themeet in a hot tub for 30 minutes each time to get my muscles loose. When meet time came My muscles were like jell-o and very soft.

Can anyone tell me if this had any effect on my race…I guess I’m just looking for excuses. but I was flying in the week before the meet…

Thanks

Good job. A pb in those circumstances and a big PB at that .05 is quite a large margin especailly when you did it first meet of the season coming off an injury. What did you open up with last yr first meet?

Nothin to be dissapointed at. Stay healthy and big things will happen.

I opened up with a 6.96 in december 2002. (opening of the season).

K good job.considering all the minor problems you had over the past few weeks you are moving well.remember that by simply staying injury free you will have an even better season.injuries of any kind will leave you with negative thought programmes and will have negative effects on your race so watch out, youll be moving even faster

Any time anyone runs a pb or seasons best deserves recognition. Well done Qwelli.

llenny

I’ve heard the jello thing from a lot of people after doing the hot tubs for a few days. I know my coach always complains how when he was an athlete if he got a massage or did a hot tub the day before a meet his legs felt weak the next day.

It is my belief that the heat does loosen up your muscles it also zaps all your energy. What you should do instead of hot tub is contrast with hot and cold starting with hot and going back and forth between hot and cold ending on cold with the time depleting each time you go.
Example 7 mins hot 5 mins cold 3 mins hot 1 min cold.

Any thoughts?

congrats that is a great time considering everything!

You should have EASY 6.7Xs after a few meets
