Knee lift

When you sprint, are you suppposed to drive your knee forcefully forward like you are going to knee someone’s nuts with each step ?
I ran earlier today in the stadium and that pro 100m sprinter saw me, he approached and told me i was doing it wrong, im letting my heels go all the way to my butt and waist time, and that i should focus on driving the knee, but be careful not to bound.

Can someone post a high quality video with a good example ?
Thanks.
Sorry if these are newbie questions…

You should bring the knee up under the butt, but don’t flick it behind, that is wasting time. I find that emphasising knee lift causes the hips to drop, focus on hig hips, it helps greatly. Loads of stuff on U Tube these days, or you can buy the GPP DVD great video footage of good technique on that.

thanks, ive heard alot about the dvd’s, where can i get them ? i cant see the link in the main site.

For what you are asking, GPP has some very good footage!
