KK (Greek sprint champ) looking strong.

Just saw the europa cup event. Christian malcom faced Konstadinos Kenteris (spelling?). KK finished in I think it was 20.3 seconds. The wind was minus 2 metres per second. Malcolm was about a meter behind at the finish.
KK is somewhat of a mystery guy for me. That was the first time I saw him run outside a major championships. (Don’t consider Europa cup as much of a championship.) Has he actually EVER competed in a grandprix event?
It’ll be interesting to watch him peak for the worlds.

I was one of kk haters, but ever since last year i have liked the man.

He is championship material.

KK i think is not scared of any 200meter sprinter.

But i think this world champs will be a big test for him, because he is going to have tough athletes up against him.

But he has rose to the chanlange everytime!

He opened the season strong like he did the previous years.

He will run again tomorrow in Athens GP.
If you ask me, I would say that he will run again (in Paris) under 19.90. If someone else can run after 4 times faster than 19.90 MAYBE he will have a change to beat Kenderis…
:shoot:

Why does KK run with such an exaggerated forward arm swing?

Dunno neo, but it seems to work!!
to come out and run 20.3 on your first outing of the year’s pretty impressive, though i do feel he won’t have it all his own way in paris.
Just a thought though, but perhaps KK doesn’t do many big races like th GL, so that people forget about him around the time of the major champs, thus allowing him to go into it with the least amount of pressure possible??

last year his first outting was a 19.8 at the major.its very strange he is running at these meets.he always said that he would run when he ready/running fast.20.3 dosen’t seem fast enough to me and he dosen’t even look as dominatant any more.KK should be doing what he always does-show up with no meets and blow everyone away.

strange that he s running in meets.i mean he didn’t even race for money after his big wins.he could have earned alot from appearance alone!

Does anyone know how much Kento squats and benches (or if he even lifts weights at all)?

I think there’s a lot on KK in the archives Mick - specially regarding his SE - Posted by linarski

It’s simple - 19.85 was in that years target meet - he has only been running GP’s lately, expect to see a top race in the final at worlds.

Dazed his target meet was the WC’s but with no meets, only training runs and still banged out 19.8

I like this guy, what was the wind on his 19.8 race? Just wondering, dont get mad!

well inside the limit but don’t know what it was exactly.a ligit time

19.85 sec with -0.5m/s wind!!!
With his right hand rised at the last 3m!!!

estimated time with good wind (+2.00m/s) and normal finish by kostas 19.78~19.80

It seems my 200m calculation was flawed!!!

If he had been fortunate enough to have the full, allowable following wind of +2m/s,his time would have been 19.68sec.

19.68sec at +2.00m/sec wind!!!

Sorry to rain on anyone’s parade, but wind readings on 200m performances are pretty much impossible to compare because of the two-dimentional aspect of the race. For example, you can have a wind-aided race with a cross-wind on the corner which is much slower than the performance that could be obtained with no wind. Likewise, you can have an apparently wind-hindered race with a big following wind across the corner, which is much faster. The best bet is to compare the result with others in the same race- the margin tells the real story.
