Jones teammates go to arbitration

SEVEN United States relay teammates of Marion Jones at the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney have filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport as they seek to retain their medals from the Games…

Jones was stripped of her medals last year, then also disqualified her relay teammates. The IOC conceded, however, that none of the seven teammates had broken any rules.

Jones teamed with Jearl-Miles Clark, Monique Hennagan, LaTasha Colander-Richardson and Andrea Anderson to win the 4x400m relay, and with Chryste Gaines, Torri Edwards, Nanceen Perry and Passion Richardson to claim the bronze in the 4X100m.

There is a court case coming up on May 19 in San Francisco which may trigger a similar dilemma for the IOC with regards to the men’s 4x100m relay winners at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
