in a few minutes (10:55pm PST). He will be discussing what happened at the WC’s and why he did what he did.
Hope some of you catch it.
Hey Balance,
If you have time, can you post a brief synopsis of what he said about the WC thing?
thnx
Sure thing. JD layed down in front of the crew sitting in their couches right after he was introduced by the host which I thought was pretty funny. JD said that he was surprised that they called him for the false start b/c he never passed the line. He said yes he did shake his foot back in forth in the blocks before the gun went off which put pressure on the blocks and signaled the starter but that should not have DQ’d him. They then showed him watching the replay and argueing w/ the officials that he did not react first nor did he pass the line first. After this he said that he was leaving the track when someone said to him that they are appealing it so don’t leave the track and so he went back.
JD said that someone high up (I think he said the Pres.) said that he should not be DQ’d but that for some reason it did not get communicated to the officials at the Track.
JD then talked about how the media made it seem like he was out there protesting for an hour when in fact he actually was only out there 10-15min. and then left the track to the warm-up feeled where he cried like a baby. After a while JD said that J Smith told him to go cool-off b/c he was hot and de-hydrated so he went to the steeplechase water jump.
JD was then asked if he will be remembered for this incident or for his sprinting. I don’t remember his answer but he said something to the effect of ‘Time will tell’ and that if he could do it over again he would probably to the same exact thing.
Then he was asked about the flag waving incident at the Sydney Olympics and said as the oldest member of the Team he took responsility for it. He said he told the OLY Realy Team that whatever they do to not let the Flag touch the ground but said he had no idea that they were going to wrap it around their heads etc. He also said that the U.S. Team celebrates every year they win but for some reason the media blew it out of proportion at Sydney perhaps b/c they needed another story.
I’ve seen JD close-up several times and he looks big on the track but not on TV. I was surprised to see how small he looked w/ reg. clothes on while sitting next to the DBSS crew.
The Interview was about 10 min. long. Did anybody else watch it?
