Blue Jays prospect right-hander Marcus Stroman was suspended 50 games for testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug.
He tested positive for Methylhexaneamine. It’s tough news for the Blue Jays, who selected Stroman No. 22 overall in June’s First-Year Player Draft. The hard-throwing right-hander has a 3.26 ERA and 23/9 K/BB ratio over his first 19 1/3 innings between Low-A Vancouver and Double-A New Hampshire. Many thought he wasn’t far away from making an impact in the big leagues, but his 2013 campaign will now get off to a late start.
Really I mean WTF is wrong with the MLB? Its god damned entertainment. When other entertainers use drugs and operations to enhance their performance (be it acting or singing or surgeons to take beta blockers) its ok… People need to realize sport is generally entertainment (not to cheapen the hard work but… it is what it is) If a player needs something to get over the hump and its available at GNC, why do athletes get put over a barrel??? couldn’t they just give him a warning?
I know the rules are the rules but 50 games is stupid… The MLB needs to start getting more fans in the seats through better marketing instead of BULLSHIT DRAMA…
