Are there any more articles out there on Italian Training by Carlo Vittori?
Vittori wrote so many articles…off course most of them are only available in italian
from how you have to train (“come devi allenarti”)
by Pietro Mennea, 200s WR holder, european and olimpic champion

Could you post all of Menneas Seasonal Training?
This Is exactly what I’ve been lookin’ for!
in his book there are only some weekly schedule
i post one for november and mars
Any overall patterns ? Have you got any In-season Trainings of Mennea? Sessions he did in between his competitons?
I would highly appreciate any reliable information of that kind!

bad weather and i say: slow slow slow slow track!
Great Stuff , thanks a lot!
Do you have any sessions left?
How did they time programms like: “100, 100, 150, 250 m
15’/20’/22’ rest
10"16 (5"58+4"58)
10"16 (5"62+4"54)
15"15 (10"50+4"63)
26"40 (15"78, 20"80 and 5"6 for last 50 m)”
Is this lasermeasurement on the first contact or with signal?
I don’t know as mennea took his split
Well, the times are surely taken with light barriers, otherwise they wouldn’t have such accurate 50m splits (4,58sec / 4,54sec.)
I just wonder if they triggered the timing by movement or with a signal. Since that would make at least about 0.15 sec difference.
But since mennea wasn’t happy with the times, I guess they didn’t time the 100m as in competition but on movement instead. 10,16sec. would be an outstanding performance in training with reaction time, since Menneas sea-level PB was 10,15 sec.
Do you have any training programms from his earlier years? Early 1970’s perhaps?
Some old school Italian sprinters use a little back and forth body movement at the start and their time is taken at first foot contact (not movement), making the whole sprint around 0.3" faster (my guestimate).
Mennea’s times were probably taken with photocells.
I used to do tha same thing, especially that back and forth movement saves you a lot of time.
With such a triggering-technique I can understand that he wasn’t very happy with his times.
yes, in his book there is ad old program
Would you be so kind to post some of those programms too?
I’m very interested in the changes over the years, since he couldn’t have tolareted such
enormous volume from his early ages on.
Would be interested what he was capable of in his early 20’s
