Is there any way? Like maybe sprinting very vigorously for a very long time.
no, don’t worry about it. loads of successful sprinters have relatively low calves, at least relative to other sprinters. carl lewis, kerron clement, asafa powell (his arent that low but compared to some other sprinters they are), bob hayes…probably loads more ive forgotten.
oh, is there any way you can tell if you have a long achilles
You can use a tape measurer or just look at it. It is a fairly simple measurement…
how exactly do you know if it’s long or not? When I flex my calf its at the top of my leg.
Don’t worry about it. If you are fast you already know it. How good you can be will come in time and is down to more than just the length of your Achilles.
for example shawn crawford has high calves - he has very short calves, and therefore has a very long achilles. yepishin has low calves. just look at where the calf muscle bulges out.
do 600’s up a 30degree sand hill with walkback recovery. 3 sets of 4, everyday. 51 second 400 pace or faster on each, and you will lengthen your achillies by 3 inches in 2 months.
That is bs. You canNOT alter your body structure. You can jut make the most of what you have. The achilles tendons are very important for top speed. You cannot lengthen them, but you can increase the efficiency of them by engaging in sprinting (flying 20 yard dashes, etc.) and other short response plyometric drills. Maurice Greene overcame it, you can too!
No, really??
Yeah, really. LOL, though. In my thread about top speed I just wanted to get your opinions.
