okay, this is just a question. Give any type of feedback if you can.
In the coming months, in April actually, the Texas Relays are taking place. I was reading that to qualify you have to be at a mid-low 10. I, right now, am at an 11.0x. But if I do my training I will most likely get back down to my norm of 10.9x.
Question, with the proper training, is it at all possible to go from a 10.9 to a 10.4 or .3 in just 3.5 months? I know that this is probably a dumb question but, can it be done?
p.s. before I pr’ed in the 100 with a 10.9, my coach was having me do a lot of 200/400s. I talked with him and said I wanted to finish the season with a 100. He agreed. So 3 weeks of doing 100m workouts i went from a 11.5 to a 10.9. Is that any indication of what I can do?
sounds like you have been training from left to right in the training curve, like CF recomends. ie, working on your speed endurance so can actually run a 100m without tiring too much.
Once your back to 10.9, i would imagine working on your acc zone if you want to run that fast. You may only be capable of acc out to 25-30m doing that pace? So, if you can push out to 40m - 45m off acc, and maintain your speed endurance, you should improve. To what time? I would not go made and chase 0.5 off a sec! thats tonns. Remember, all that work you did over 200-400m was helping you get a good 100 time too, not just that last 3weeks, but all that time before too.
Set yourself up some training goals, leading up to what you think a 10.5 runner is capable of doing, and acheive them in training. By the time April comes along, you should know, within 0.1s, what time you are capble off.
Its possible but its very hard to do. Man just bust your but train hard and smart and stay healthy and do the dang thang! Goodluck hopefully i’ll see you in the 100m and the 200m
I would say low-mid 10.7s would be a reachable goal, 10.3 would be well worth having your own training system for in 3 1/2 months. I would be the first in line.
