Introducing myself

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share what a privilege it is to be a part of this forum. As a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, and living in the greater Pittsburgh area, I can tell you first hand that James Smith and Buddy Morris are extremely highly regarded names around these parts so it’s definitely a treat to have James contributing to this forum.

This past spring, I interned in the strength and conditioning department at Carnegie Mellon University. For those who are unfamiliar, Carnegie Mellon is a small, private school in Pittsburgh known mostly for their academics. It was there that my supervisor introduced me to Charlie’s training system and that was the single biggest breakthrough I’ve had while studying the science of physical preparation.

It’s quite a legacy that Charlie has left and I’m excited to be a part of such a like-minded group that continues to learn from the greatest coach to ever live.

Hello Swogger thanks for the kind words. Did you intern with Alan? If so you know he’s a fantastic guy and very knowledgable.

Do we know each other? Send me a private message if we do.

James,

Yes I was with Alan and you’re right, he’s a great guy and I’ve yet to meet someone who is more well versed in this field then he is! I consider myself fortunate to have learned from him and we continue to work together as we are doing some interesting research with his athletes this semester.

We do not know each other but I look forward to getting to know you and having some meaningful discussions.

Well done. Tell Alan I said hello as it’s been a while since we last got together.
