I'm not loving it...

I thought this was interesting,

Consumer alert!

All American Beef producers that sell cows at a livestock auction barn had to sign a paper stating that we do NOT EVER feed our cows any part of another cow. South Americans are not required to do this.

McDonalds has announced that they are going to start importing much of their beef from South America. The problem is that South Americans aren’t under the same regulations as American beef producers and the regulations they have are loosely controlled. They can spray numerous pesticides on their pastures that have been banned here at home because of residues found in the beef. They can also use various hormones and growth regulators that we can’t.

The American public needs to be aware of this problem and that they may be putting themselves at risk from now on by eating at good old McDonalds. American ranchers raise the highest quality beef in the world and this is what Americans deserve to eat. Not beef from countries where quality is loosely controlled.

What makes this more shocking is that Beef production in the US is very poorly regulated to begin with. I was once a beef eater, then I read Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser I was horrified by what I read. So much so that I went and checked out loads of the references that he sited because i couldn’t believe what i was reading was true, sadly things got worse the more i read.
Its been two years since I have been able to eat beef, and i have tried as i really love the taste, I just can’t bring my self to swallow it.
I really recommend reading the book. But be warned in advance it may change your veiw of food forever.

Dave

Toks,

I suggest viewing the customer support thread, this has been addressed already. Click here to buy the DVD.

ahhh the joys being (semi) vegetarian… between this and mad cow, who needs beef? i only eat seafood and occasionally chicken and i don’t miss the burgers.

Of passing interest- but, more to the point, what about Burger King?

I suppose the BK Gestapo has cleaned up alot of its press. I can’t find much…but I am looking.

Stay tuned…

30 day MD diet.

Another advertisement I’m not loving is the Frosted MiniWheats commercial. For those that haven’t seen it a the guy goes around asking everyone if they have fiber. When an Oriental guy shows him a vegetable he is selling he asks him if he’s kidding and advises him that Frosted MiniWheats are what he needs. Made me angry.

Is there an after pic of the McDonalds guy anywhere on the Internet?

why does this make you angry? i love it. everyone gets fatter, i get bigger and leaner. no complaints here. if people are too lazy to educate themselves about nutrition its their fault. people arent fat because of stupidity, rather because they’re lazy.

Think about it.

You are paying for the health problems caused by widespread obesity. People who can’t afford to live in a trailer park are getting bariatric surgery to reduce their stomach size, and it’s being paid for by medicare in some places.

You are paying the extra $0.02 for the “handicapped or obese” access at your favorite store. You are paying the extra for the Amigo’s to cart the 500# people around Wal-mart.

The money’s got to come from somewhere. The termimally obese are buying another Little Debbie Zebra Cake.
