IAAF Forums to close at the end of January
Thursday 24 January 2008

Monte-Carlo - The IAAF website is currently undergoing a major redevelopment and along with these changes the section which contains the IAAF Forums, at least in its present format will cease operation as of the end of January.

As announced last August at the time of the launch of our Osaka World Championships competition site and the new look IAAF home page, the whole structure and map of the main IAAF website will change in early 2008 based upon that Osaka model.

In essence for the last six months we have been operating with two sites, a new look home page but beneath which was still the old site. In the coming week the IAAF website will again become one whole, with a number of new features including a much needed full site SEARCH facility, and a new ATHLETES section which will give easier access to athletes’ statistical and biographical information.

The Forums will be replaced by a new FAN ZONE. This will initially be based on IAAF FANTASY ATHLETICS, which having been successfully tested in Osaka will become a season long game based upon the major outdoor meets of each year, and regular POLLS so we can gain your opinion about some of the major topics surrounding our sport.

But the general concept of a ‘Forum’ has not gone for ever on the IAAF website, as we will be studying the viability of alternative versions of moderated interactivity between the site and its users.

We are also accessing the viability of possible additional Fan Zone features such as Shopping and Merchandising.

The IAAF would like to thank all users of the present Forums for their contribution and involvement over the years.

good stuff!!!

We’re doing similar activities. If there is anything web related, feature or otherwise, that you think would make charliefrancis.com even better. Send me a note, say hello and tell us.
