Here I go again ,getting all worked up and ready to run when there is still hours left before the race.
What do you people do in the hours leading up to you leaving for the track?
Well I’m usually flying down the motorway dodging lorries and missing the right turn off junction / asking people directions etc
But when I’m local or I get a chance to arrive early - I’ll watch a movie or listen to music or read - anything other than use up nervous energy getting over exicted thinking about the race -
I learnt this when was doing big or important gigs with my band -
Don’t kill it by building it up too much - try and relax and enjoy it - other wise there’s no point in doing it in the first place - putting too much pressure on urself - then u cock up and all ur left with is the journey home .
When u start ur warm up that’s when ur focus begins and ur body should remember what you’ve been training it to do - don’t let ur brain get in the way ( not having much left I don’t have this problem lol )
I’m sure others have other aproaches - this is just what works for me - I feel like a right pro after just one season nooot!!!
i watch a movie the day before as that helps me prevent from thinking about the next day because i am the type of person that overthinks/overanalyzes everything. it is also convenient for me to have more than one event the next day so i am not just thinking about one event.
the day of (hours before the meet) i usually sit and visualise the actions i wilol be performing. i visualise the runup and the atmosphere of the stadium/track i will be on. just simple stuff like that.
