Australia’s Steve Hooker has the added incentive of a $100,000 bonus if he breaks Sergey Bubka’s pole vault world record on 18 Match 2010 at his Nationals in Perth, Western Australia.
It’s unfortunate that breaking one of the more daunting WRs only carries a theoretical bonus of 100k. I’d say those who put up the 100k are (were?) pretty safe.
The crossbar rests were shortened a few years back, some said it was to make it harder for the record to be broken.
I bet his shoe company’s contract includes a bonus for WR which is higher than 100,000.
