Greene Foot Injury - He's Out Of It In Mexico

LOS ANGELES, May 10 - Former world record holder and Olympic champion Maurice Greene has withdrawn from Saturday’s Veracruz meeting in Mexico with a foot problem, his manager said on Wednesday.

Greene was scheduled to run a 100 metres at the meet, which will feature former sprint queen Marion Jones facing ex-world champion Torri Edwards over the same distance in Jones’s first race in 11 months.

“We are not sure exactly what the problem is,” Greene’s manager, Emanuel Hudson, told Reuters by telephone from California.

“He felt it warming up (for the Kansas Relays) last month and still feels it,” Hudson said. “We do not want him to run until he is fully ready to go.”
