If AUS pick Offereins for the world champs 4x4, that presents a potential dilemma for AUS 4x4 relays coach Penny Gillies who I gather is also
Milburn’s personal coach.
It is perhaps premature to speculate, but would she drop him from the relay?
There is still six weeks for him to return to form. His best last year was 44.8, so 46.6 off the blocks in his last few runs would be frustrating for them at best. He will not progress in the individual event at worlds with such a time and they know that.
I understand the Beijing semi-finalist is perfectly healthy with no injuries and is now in Europe, so I hope it is nothing more than judging the time-line and he will be flying by the time Berlin starts on August 15… or at least in time to make a run at relay medals by the time the meet wraps up on August 25. So plenty of time in theory.
