Jason Gardener of Britain and Magdalena Khristova of Bulgaria won the 60-meter sprints at the Vienna Indoor meet on Tuesday.

Gardener timed 6.62 seconds to edged Italy’s Simone Collio at 6.65 and Paul Hession of Ireland in 6.66 at Ferry Dusika Stadium.

“I’m very pleased, but I can run faster than that,” said Gardener, who dominated the event in the 2004 world indoors and hopes to run faster at next month’s European Championships in Birmingham, England.

Khristova won the women’s 60 in 7.32.

Jolanda Ceplak of Slovenia cruised to victory in the women’s 800, but her 1:59:33 was off her world mark of 1:55:82 set in Vienna in 2002.

“I know I can run one or two seconds faster,” Ceplak said.

Fellow Slovene Sonja Roman took the 1,500 in a personal-best 4:10:88.

Martin Steinbauer of Austria also a personal best in the 3,000 meters with 7:56:48.
