Freak Accident on April Fools Day

Hey folks. I regret to report that on April 1 I suffered a terrible accident which resulted in both knees being crushed and torn patella tendons equally. I had surgery the next day. Doctors said that it went well… Obviously, my next question was would I ever be able to run again. They said it would take a year, if I am talking about “sprinting.” On Friday my doc will bend my knees a few inches and adjust my massive braces to allow a set range of motion. I have know idea how much this will hurt- I hear it’s somewhat painful. I would appreciate any input from you guys on what I can expect during rehab and I will keep you all posted on any scheduled rehab plans from the therapists. We all know not every therapist is cut from the same cloth. My first post surgery revelation was watching how fast toned muscle can turn to flacid mush. This brings me to EMS therapy. I remember Coach Francis talking about Marion Jones’ foot injury and not being able to treat it with EMS due to a metal pin in her foot (or something along those lines). A question I have for the community is, with a few pens in my knee caps now, what kind of limitations do I now have on using ems? Can I use ems on my quads hams or calves anymore?

That’s horrible… I’m sorry to hear about that happening to you. I wish I could chime in on advice… Hopefully the experts can help you out with this one… Hope the rehab goes well and see you back to the track again! Best wishes…
