akm, what year is that pic?
I don’t know, might be best to ask charlie. I would be interested to know myself.
Would anybody care to guess?
The BJ pic is from the official Seoul’88 video i think, and if i remember, he was chatting with Don Quarrie.
About Flo-Jo’s 150kg lunge, i have red it several times, but not sure what is the original source. Sometimes it was about lunge squats, sometimes full squats…
I know that top female sprinters can do full squat between 120-140kg (265lbs-310lbs) but most of them just do 1/2 squat because of injury risks.
By the way, Charlie, how much did Angella Issajenko lift, for full-1/2-1/4 squat, bench, snatch, clean, etc ?
According to the ‘Mercier Score Calculators’, Flo-Jo’s 10.49 is equal to a Man running 9.59 fo’ the 100.
What is regarded as her ‘real world record’ of 10.61 (Indianapolis US OT Women’s 100 final ‘88, +1.2m/s following wind) is the equal to a Man running 9.68 fo’ the 100…
If she is the fastest human in history, why is her best only 10.49? Shouldn’t it be 9.77?
She may be fastest by comparison
 I realized that. I was being literal. Literally Flo Jo wasn’t the fastest human in history. Literally the fastest human to run 100m in legal conditions is Tim Montgomery. But then this brings up another question. Does fastest refer to time over distance or does it refer to top speed?
I’m not sure if there is any real way to determine how fast Flo could have been if she was man. Heck if she was born a man she may not have even been a sprinter - she might have been a wrestler or a football player.
Bump on that point - av speed or top speed? Commentators tend to use the 100m WR holder as ‘world’s fastest’, but MJ must at least be in with a shout.
Top speed is measured in 10m increments, so the 100m man has the higher speed (once again, in the 200m, the second 100 is entered from a running start!)
