Gebre-egziabher Gebremariam of Ethiopia won the men?s 12-kilometer race at the World Cross-Country Championships in Amman, Jordan, and Florence Jebet Kiplagat of Kenya took the title in the women?s 8K race. Gebremariam won on the hilly course in 35 minutes 2 seconds, while Kiplagat claimed her title in 26:13. Hilda Kibet of the Netherlands finished sixth.
