elbows going outwards

I’ve had this long issue with my elbows going out, and arms “swinging.” Basiclly doesn’t look like ideal sprint form, and everyone comments on it.

Someone said i have a uneven imbalance with my chest/shoulders to my back, since my pressing strength (bench, military) are too far ahead of my pulls. So would strengthening my back fix this naturally?

It might help, but I suspect not entirely. While I’ve seen some pretty severe muscular imbalances of teenages (who only ever do pushups and situps, and enough of them to build significant mass), it’s hard to imagine a muscular imbalance that would make your elbows go out that much. For starters, try increasing the flexibility of your pecs/delts while you work on countering (if needed) the imbalance.

would this affect my times at all?

It could just be habit, nothing more. Try running with your thumbs pointing straight up. Might help.

How bad is it? Do you have a video? The change in time would probably be very small, and it might actually slow you down running “properly” until you get used to it.

I wouldnt say its horrible, it was also becoming more of a habit and causing me to lean back for some reason. I fixed that mostly, but coaches, etc. still say run like this blah blah and ill be faster.

But I’ve definitely noticed what you said, and when trying to sprint better, I’ve felt much slower.
