I must be spending too much time on this Forum… I dreamt about you guys last night!!
We were all at a Track meet. Charlie was the meet promoter with a deep Swiss voice, chewing on a cigar! KitKat and No. 2 were two of the highly rated coaches hanging out in the stands with their sunglasses, stopwatches and clipboards. No. 23 and Jamirok were the physios waiting in the sidelines. Don’t ask me how I recognized you all 'cause I’ve never seen you! Maybe you were portrayed by your Avatars 'cause I remember seeing this big guy in a kiwi rugby outfit hanging out on the infield…it must have been John!
I was spending time with the Brits (I guess 'cause I live in London!) Maris, JasonUK and TC710 were all there. What happened to TC by the way? Did he become TopCat from Manhattan Alley?
Before I knew it, to my astonishment, my heat was up! “But I haven’t run in years!!!”, I thought! We were all entered in the 200m and I was drawn with JohnG109. I managed to stay with him for most of the home straight but at the end he just pulled away. I remember seeing 20.91 and thinking “Wow, I can’t be far off that!”
For most of the race I was quizzing myself on how on earth I got there, and it was only afterwards that I felt more intent on performing. “I’ll definitely be more focused for the quarters!”
Just as my heat were walking off the track, I heard my mobile phone ring…and I saw that I had already had 3 missed calls! I answered the call and a voice just mumbled: “business”. Who do I know that’s called ‘business’ was my predominant thought. Then I realised that this guy wanted to DO business!! Man I’m in the big league now and this is an agent!! Well he told me that he would offer me £500, and then more on top of that if I were to get through to the next round. At first I couldn’t believe my ears but then I started to get savvy! “Why don’t I wait for more calls and see what else is offered!?”, I thought. On the other hand, others might not give me the initial £500 that this guy is willing to hand out. I was getting confused.
Just then, my thoughts were broken by TC. “Have you done your hot & colds yet?” “No, I’ve been talking to an agent!” The only response he could give me was a shake of the head. I felt so guilty that I was putting money in front of my regeneration and that I was letting the Brits down!
O.K, time to recover. Somebody had prepared an ice bath for me but before I immersed myself, I ran to the fridge and found dozens of chocolate croissants. This is perfect nourishment for ‘in-between rounds’, I thought! Just as I ran off, my mouth drooling, Rupert, the stadium announcer began to harp on about something, which then gradually merged into the sound of my morning alarm.
Damn, go back to sleep!! I want Round 2! Maybe I’ll see you guys tonight!
