I’m a wrestler and rugby player and I also really enjoy sprinting, but rugby falls at the same time as track at my school, and I’d rather be out on the pitch. I have relatively little experience with sprinting, I sprinted a little over the summer to improve my speed for rugby and thats when I decided sprinting was a blast. I would run 2 100 meter sprints, and then 6 30 meter sprints; 3 from a jogging start, and 3 from my stomach.
Now that wrestling has started I have relatively little time for sprinting because there is practice 5 days a week and weight lifting on three of those days. I was curious if there would be a place for maybe some low volume sprinting I could fit in on the weekends or when I felt rested enough. Would sprinting help my wrestling? I’d be interested in doing it just to improve my speed for rugby, but if it helped on the mats that would be a bonus.
By the way, I'm new here, this is my first post. I tend to stray away from actually posting on forums but these at Charlie Francis are by far the most professional and civilized sports forums I have ever seen.
