Hi would Charlie or anyone who has succesfully used the Long to Short programme let me know their views on how to determine the times their sprinters should be aiming for when starting the 600m workouts in SPP1 please.
Hard to determing STARTING 600 times as there are so many variables. in a more extensive SPP, you should at least finish the 600s with a PB.
Thanks Charlie, its the first time they will be trying this option so whatever they do will be a pb. Is it possible to gauge what they should be doing it by their 300m times ?
Tough to say as a rule because it depends on the previous training approach and the nature of the runners- ie 100m strong and 200 average or vice versa, etc.
Lets say as an example a guy in his early 20’s who hit 22.7 at 3 separate meetings in August this year. Has ran 11.2 a couple of times but finds the 200m more comfortable as his acceleration is not great at the moment.
