Cuban jump training

I found some notes in an old training-magazine .This is from a seminar held in Oslo,Norway 1997. It was done by the coaches of Sotomayor,Pedroso and Quesada.

sprinttraining

October-November: 2-8km jogging!!
November-December: 600-800m !!
December: 200-300m
January: 100-150m -) 40-60m

Bounding

A high jumper does 60.000-80.000 contacts a year.
In the triple jump the plyos are divided into 3 different categories:
C-jumps are low intensity (endurance) jumps and contacts per year 25.000-30.000.They are done year around.

B-jumps are boundings without approach.for example 5-bound.They are done in GPP.

A-jumps are speed bounding and depth jumps.

Weigths

They didn’t want to discuss this topic and only
said that Pedroso uses halfsquats. No test results was given.

Tests

Quesada uses slj/5-bound/300m

Other

Low intensity boundings are used for recovery…

During GPP Sotomayor trains 10x/week in the hardest weeks (46 sessions in a 5 week period). The sessions are quite long.

After every session the athletes can get physiotherapy and cold&hot treatments

I dont know if its real that a jumper is doing long runs in the early season.

I find the most interesting thing that cuban jumpers practice (or pedroso practiced) full run up approaches three times a week. I cannot find the link right now but i believe i read it somewhere in this forum.

WOuldn’t this be a typo, 300 instead of 30?

(and many thanks BTW)

any numbers for his 5 bound test?

In the magazine it says 300m…

They didn’t give away any results in the seminar…
