I’ve never heard anyone else say this before, but last night in a casual conversation with someone in the medical field, I told this lady that I took creatine. This conversation wasnt in person, and she basically told me that taking creatine causes a distinct odor that the taker wouldnt be able to recognize, but people around him/her would be able to. I asked her how she figured, and she said she would try to look up an abstract for me or find a link to an article of some kind.
I havent noticed any odor while taking creatine, and like I said I’ve never heard anyone else make such a claim. Can any members here more knowledgable than myself verify this statement, or even better, tell me that it’s completely wrong so I can stop worrying that people around me think I’m smelly???
She’s trying to drop u hints, LOL. To be honest I have never heard it before. Urea/creatinine can cuase body odour but supplementing with creatine will not lead to body odour. They may be those whose body chemistry may lead to body odour when metabolising creatine, but i doubt if it afects the majority of people supplementing creatine. Think about it we would have had more anecdotal evidence than just this one off case after almost 15 years of creatine supplementation in sport. There probably is a study by some lab boffin claiming that creatine supplementation leads to BO, but has this been the experience in the field? No
Perhaps in the study the creatine allowed the subjects to produce more ATP or produce ATP at a faster rate which Allowed them to do more work. Since more work was done the deorderant they were wearing failed. So the study results should actually be if you take creatine wear more deorderant because it will allow you to work out harder and make better gains.
Good example of bad science. Kind of like “Frogs with no legs go Deaf”. If anyone knows that little story.
I heard creatine causes cancer, herpes, HIV, shrinkage, erectile dysfunction, the clap, avian flu, and SARS. No jokes! I heard it from some guy who knows a guy who heard it from a doctor.
Maybe the warning is for people who do the loading phase and end up crapping their shorts after a hard workout… So, in that case, creatine will lead to an unpleasant odor.
I’m sure too much sodium bicarbonate creates the same odor.
this is pure nonsense I have been around athletes for years who used creatin and I never did experience any foul smell eminating from these athletes. Your friends need to get their facts straight doctor or not. garbage.
