Coming back from chronic achilles

Feel a little fever after training. Keep the fluids up and I’ll just have to ride it out.

Sun Sept 16

Fever has got worse, mucus build up. No training today, until the symptons go.

Sept 17 Mon

Infection spread from chest to throat. Woke with some bloody mucus. Sympton are worse in the morning. Fever is only mild, so i dont think i got viral infection, rather bacterial.

Looks like I may need to have the rest of the week off. Bad timing ran pbs last week in training.

Tues 18 Sept

Doc, ruled out bacterial infection. Had a blood test, get the results later today. Lymph nodes on both sides of my neck are swollen, hope its not glandular fever.

Keep your head up mate.

Drink plenty of fluids and get some rest!

Thanks mate! just got to be patient

Wed 19th Sept

Couldn’t get blood test results from doc, they where totally booked today. I told them send me the results I can interpret the blood counts, apparently ethical responsibilities prevent docs from disclosing test results without a consultation. The issue maybe money and not medical ethics.

Fever has gone done, cough still sounds nasty. First session back will be just a warm up.

Thur 20 Sept

Blood count was normal; however blood count norms are not always the best indicator of pathology. Regardless I seem to be feeling better.

Still not 100% healthy yet. Keep volumes very low at the moment.

Have you taken time off work to fully recover? It would be a shame, when you take your track so seriously, to not recover from a minor illness properly. If you keep training while not healthy your going to delay getting back to 100% a while.

Your right, thats why the training I did over the last week, all of 20 minute sessions. I been spending most the days resting. Patience can be a hard virtue.

Wed 26 Sept

Standing Long & triple, 4x100 3m & 9m

Thurs 27 Sept

Rest, decided to take some extra time off. Not fully recovered.

Fri 28th Sept

Rest, longest I v’e ever been sick. Having done little training over the last two weeks has enabled my achilles to totally recovery. No stiffness early in the morning.

Right calf little bit tight. Achilles has no soreness from yesterday. Seem to be getting regular tightness in the soleus bilaterally. Grastroc/ soleus may not have the right strength balance. Need to include bent leg calf raises, to work the soleus.

Time to get back into an structured routine.

On the 13/9, 3 weeks ago ran pbs in training. Had health issues since. Toward end of the wk should be able to run 11.0 100m on grass, that leaves 0.4 off pb. Thats the first target after this mini delay.

13/9 times

30x4 4.1-4.0 comfortable
3x100 11.6,11.2,10.6
