This just in: Christophe Lemaitre is a class clown By Matt Stroup, Universal Sports
It didn’t take long for Christophe Lemaitre to begin enveloping classmates in his web of silliness after stepping into a college classroom. From the Department of Not Remotely Surprising Developments: French sprinter Christophe Lemaitre began studies at the University of Savoy in the French Alps on Thursday, and there’s already photographic evidence that he’s acting like a goofball in class.
If you’re wondering why we don’t find Lemaitre’s tomfoolery surprising, allow us to remind you that this is the same individual who inexplicably wore an absurdly cheesy gardener’s hat at the European Championships last summer, and more recently rabbit-eared Usain Bolt in a photo after winning bronze (with Bolt taking gold) in the 200m at the World Championships.
Come to think of it, there’s nothing remotely surprising about any of this. For a sprinter who likes to put on ridiculous hats, rabbit-ear his colleagues and generally act excessively silly, a classroom is one of the best places in the world to be.
After all, it remains one of life’s quietly delightful pleasures to laugh uncontrollably when there’s a chance you might get caught. And we have a feeling that Lemaitre the student is probably going to have somewhere in the vicinity of 15-20 of those moments per day.
