BIRMINGHAM, England, July 26 (AFP) - European championDwain Chambers reasserted his status as the king ofBritish sprinters with a convincing victory in thetrials for next month’s World Championships.
Running into a stiff 1.6 m/s headwind, Chambersclocked 10.08sec to come in ahead of 200m specialistDarren Campbell (10.19sec).
Mark Lewis-Francis, the young pretender to Chambers’crown, trailed in in third with a disappointing time of10.25sec.
Lewis-Francis, who seems to have lost his confidenceafter a blistering start to the season, will now have torely on the discretion of the selectors to claim thethird 100m spot on the British team.
