CF vs Pfaff - CF wins hands down

I’m not the guy talking about an event I did not experience ‘dude’, start your own thread!

Nap, THEONE didn’t SAY anything about anything! So therefore your quip about him not being there is pointless.

I’ll start keeping an eye on things here!!

First of all, I would like to thank Theone for his finding of Roger Burrows opinion it has lead to some more insight. Now let us discuss Roger Burrows viewpoint of the seminar.

The question I would pose is what has Roger Burrows “The Ontario Mentor Coach” learned from the seminar and how will this knowledge help him in designing programs for his athletes. If the answer is I don’t know; then, all I see is vague concepts and ideas that the average coach cannot use. If he gives an answer like the periodization of different training elements then in what manner and how much?

I read Roger Burrows opinion and even he states that Pfaff kept on bringing up chronic load syndrome which I would take it means “blowing up athletes” which is what Nap was referring to. Although I understood most of what Burrows said there were some terms that made you say WTF?

I still must contend that from what I have seen and heard so far the seminar offers very little if you are already familiar with Periodization and Vertical Integration. Perhaps had Burrows attended one of CF’s seminars his viewpoint would be more like Nap’s. I can see myself being pissed off if I had spent 500 plus dollars on a seminar and had learned nothing new. It doesn’t matter which seminar I attended first, if I did attend both of them and then had to write an opinion on which was better then my answer would be CF’s hand’s down. Everytime I goto a CF seminar I learn something new and useful.

I will say this, Pfaff seems to have system somewhat vaguely similar to CF’s. I say vaguely because I only see ballpark figures and ideas nothing concrete (not even approximations).

It seems there is a bit of irony here as Pfaff continues to talk about chronic load syndrome and his athletes keep getting seriously injured. I guess with greater risk comes greater rewards or greater screwups.

great great post charlie.very interesting in hearing the truth and indepth rather than the BS from the press.

would you have any more details like above charlie as its great reading and we can all learn something from CF’s expereiences.my god if someday you realease an autobio it will be a great great seller

Hey - what a coincidence. I’m holding a seminar on December 3 in Vancouver with some great speakers (including Charlie) for much less than 500 bucks. Hope to see all of you dissatisfied coaches there getting good value for your dollar! Maybe someone should send the info to Roger Burrows!

In terms of networking what do you think that will do for new coaches?

OH, I have a lot of details, but not everything I’ve done has been made so public by the media. Lots of customers prefer to remain anonymous and I must keep it that way.

you can always use fictional characters!!! a def best seller.you have done many ,many things charlie and sorry to say it but you’ve been in the middle of the biggest olympic hoop-la ever.EVER!

Dont get him started…

Roger won’t be there.

Darn… Oh well, we’ve got some good interest from track coaches in Alberta, BC, Washington State and California. Even had a call from Utah the other day. Shaping up to be quite a gathering of coaches.

While Officialdom continues to try to re-write history and come up with someone else- anyone else to hang their hat on, those who actually want to learn are welcome to attend.

A big part ot this could be the focus on specific work.

Hitting on one or two specific areas as often and as hard as possible till they break.

I know his setup is based on two days of acceleration and two days speed/special endurance. Part of his weekly setup is similar to yours with days 1,3, and 5 high intensity. However, he goes high int. again on day 6. I don’t know how “low intensity” are days 2 and 4 for him.
Are we talking about the same “areas”?
