I have always consumed a lot of dairy products: milk/yogurt/cheese. I noticed that I have been drinking much more in the last few weeks, (since I buy my own groceries) I honestly drink about a half a gallon of milk a day (that’s a lot right?).
I also eat a good amount of yogurt and cottage cheese (which isn’t that high in Ca+). It’s also in my protein powder. I have just begun to feel very tired, restless at night, weak, even depressed the last few weeks. My training has also suffered somewhat (max strength hurt greatest). I don’t really know of any good sources of Magnesium in my diet. My main question is Magnesium defiency strictly a chronic problem, or can you have an accute deficiency brought about by certain changes in diet/stress? Does it sound like Magnesium deficiency is my problem?
Have you tried ZMA? Give it a try, and remember that sometimes we are up, and sometimes down. If this is something new in your life, then it may pass. Regardless, worrying about it only makes it worse so do what you can and let your body do the rest.
I think your exactly right. I’ve just been worrying too much about it, because I was very recently at a new pr in squat/ power clean. And now I’m back where I started. I did order some Magnesium Taurine. I heard it’s better compared to aspartate (in ZMA0, and Mag glycinate. Something to do with the amino it’s bonded to. Anyway I bet when they arrive the placebo effect will kick in, and if the pills actually work, I should be as good as new.
Dairy products are useless. The whole milk industry has you brain washed into thinking milk is jack-up with calcium. It actually contains very little and has been proven to actually leach calcium from your bones. Try some green vegetables if you want a better source of calcium.
Do a search on dairy products and hormones. There are so many added hormones in dairy products that you should stay away from them. Do you really want to be drinking a hormone-filled soup?
What do you think about organic milk? Is it so bad? Got any references for those claims?
Personally I stay away from the stuff because of allergies.
High salt intakes can cause calcium to be leached from the bones!
Foods that are high in magnesium are all types of peanuts, tofu(raw or regular) and broccoli
and canned sardines or high in calcium
that should are high
I think you just answered your question there. There are so many people allergic to dairy that don’t know it. When I say dairy, I mean just milk like drinking or with cereal etc. I don’t mean ice cream or cheese. There are some people though that can’t tolerate any lactose.
Humans past the age of 5 have a hard time digesting dairy. If you’re not a baby cow you can usually find a better source of calcium.

Yeah, I guess you’re right. Though I have to say that I didn’t have any problems with dairy products until I lived one year in the USA. I thought it wouldn’t cause any problems going from organic dairy products to “standard” dairy products. At the time I just didn’t knew that they contained antibiotics & hormones.
It might have not been nothing since people suddenly develop allergies as they age, but I do think the food that I ate during my year in the USA might had something to do with me going from allergy-free to having a bunch of them.
Edit:
True, but try to convince that to your “average Joe”. People always start saying how nutritious milk is, especially that how easy and handy it’s to drink your calcium instead of eat a lot veggies.
I have to stay that in a way I’m glad to be severaly lactose intolerant… It has made my diet a whole lot better!
Thanks for the link, I’ll have to check it out!
casein=glue?
lol
I’ve taken some of the protein powders that are casein based and I didn’t have a problem with them. I had the Met-Rx one and I was fine taking it. They market them as being made from Micellar Casein which is supposed to be undenatured. I was fine on it.
Why do you think there’s a cow on the Elmer’s glue bottles? Because it’s made from dairy. Seriously.
- What is the story on whey protein? Isnt it from milk too? So is there a problem?
We use soy milk fortified with calcium in the whey protein drink.
2.I’ve learned that the calcium in milk is cancelled out by an animal protein or something that is in the milk.
So far we stay away from milk and take calcium supplements (even though the body can absorb no more than 30% of a supplement).
whey protein is way down the processing line.
It’s made from the run off of cottage cheese. They then use their 2-3 different processes to get the lactose out and give us the sweet sweet nectar of the gods.
I’ve never heard of the 30% thing as far as supplements go.
I take Trophic’s minerals that are from Albion labs in the US. They are chelated with a low molecular weight for better absorption. I seem to do alright.
Guys,
Get clean, RAW grass feed based milk. It’s the best. Nothing are destroyed. The commerical milk are pasturized so that’s why it’s basically worthless and might be the cause of allergies. http://www.realmilk.com/why.html is the place where you can find the farms that sells clean raw milk if you’re interested. Almost as good as your mother’s milk!
I found this

If you insist on drinking some sort of milk and you don’t have a lactating mama around, I think the best milk is Goat’s milk.
Yeah, it’s about as close as you can get from your mom’s milk. Easier to digest than cow’s milk too. It would be the best option for the babies after mother’s milk supply has dried up. The key is where the goats are raised and how they are fed. Eating grasses and grains is a big difference maker in the composition of milk. Stick with grass fed based animals.
Robert Cohen is a moron. it’s clear that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He’s the one advocating soymilk! Alot of misinformations on his website!!!
Just what i know ( or i heard ) is that Trinidad Sprinter, Ato Boldon,
