Britain’s Daniel Caines has withdrawn from the World Indoor Championships in Moscow, which start on Friday.
Caines, who won 400m gold at the championships in 2001, is suffering from a stress reaction in his right leg following his two races this season.
The Birchfield Harrier, who now lives in the United States, has been instructed to rest for two weeks.
Caines, 26, has been plagued by injury over the last two years and will also miss the Commonwealth Games.
Caines had made a promising start to the indoor season, notching up decent wins in Glasgow and Stockholm.
