SHES HOT COOLCOL J!!!
Oh my goodness coolcol j that girl is hot.

I like her as well

yeah - it’s cheapest from Amazon. Got it pretty quickly too.

OK book -

I just finished reading the biography of Flex Wheeler - ‘Flex ability’ ( …bought and read it in the one evening)

It is a very good read.

One hell of a story - no holds barred.

Don’t buy it to read about body building tough, there is only one chapter devoted to it, but his life story is well worth a read.

It’s outlines his tormented upbringing and abused young life, his struggle with marriages and realtionships, paralysis and comback, substance abuse recovery and his new reformed lifestyle.

A powerful story.

Oh and thanks guys for the advice- the Verkhoshansky books arrived yesterday also and I’m just working through - Fundamentals of Special Strength Training in Sport… Thanks

Do let us know your thoughts on the books. Thanks!

Just finished an amazing book yesterday -

Berlin - the downfall 1945’
by Anthony Beevor.

Bloody awesome!!!
It is one of the best books I’ve read - and I’ve read a few.

It covers the year 1945 (no sh*t) from the German and Russian viewpoints with some startling revelations about the destruction of the German war machine.

It’s revelations about the abuse and systematic mass, multiple rape of German women is shocking and disturbing. It gives an incredible insight into the mindset of Hitler and the various generals he had under his command as well as the cunning moves of Stalin and the downfall of his General Zhukov.

Writtne in a nice easy style it’s simply a great read.

Perhaps it might make a nice Xmas gift for someone interested in that kinda stuff … (Now there’s a Thread waiting to happen - ‘Xmas gifts’.)

[Now - I’m off to see if I can get a copy of ‘Stalingrad’]

Stalingrad!! That’s one of my favourite maps on Medal of Honour

I thought that was very helpful too, however it was when I was first getting started. Umm…if you’re still deliberating

Another Book review

OK - Before I start - I ain’t into kissing ass - so CT if your reading this - I’m not kissing ass or trying to give you a big head.

Ok - I’m a fairly well read kinda guy- I am NOT an expert in sport NOR do I claim to know it all, but I have seen alot of strength, psychology, nutrition and sports books - and I’d say I know the difference between a good and a bad book.
I did originally think no book or coach could describe the application of proper logical sports science - that they were all simply just theory - but ‘Speed Trap’ and ‘CFTS’ changed that…

I have now officially added two more to my list of reccomenedations:
Last night I started going through CT’s two books -

  • The Black Book of Training Secrets.
  • Theory and Application of Modern Strength and Power Methods.

These are 2 very good books.
I haven’t read them fully - or disected them entirlely and I know I’ll have some questions and queries for CT on some of the stuff written - but for a new innovative approach to application of sport and strength sciences - you got to read these.

This is why I think these are well worth reading:
In weight training and strength sposrts today you essentially have a chasm with Drechler, Zatsiorsky Siff, Verkhoshansky on one side, and on the other the athlete trying to learn and apply the high level and innovtive concepts of these great authors.
Few coaches (CF being one) and even fewer athletes and can bridge this gap/chasm.
Like the CFTS and Speed Trap before him - CT bridges this gap, he brings his own blend to the mix and presents his concepts drawing on the expertise of these coaches and authors in a clear manner.
Neither book is overly big - which is a great relief - there is no padding - simply concise data and examples - no BS.

I would say read Zatsiorsky, Verkhoshansky first if you want to understand the theorectical basics and then use CT to apply the lifting concepts and combine with the CFTS for the complete package.

One of the key things in the books are the pictures - and while we get to see plenty of the big fella himself - they are very good step by step explnantions of the key exercises in the book - which are critical judging from the number of people who request explnantions of the various olympic lifts and their proper execution.

Like I said - I’ll post again here after Xmas when I get going through these 2 with a fine tooth comb and list my queries and questions for CT - and you never know - perhaps he’ll answer my Q’s.

For those of you who don’t know CT - check out his posts here, the interview on regenerationlab.com and his articles on t-mag.com

And if all that’s not enough for good measure - You even get a pouting Vin Diesel pose on the back page!

Where did you get this book “Theory and Application of Modern Strength and Power Methods” ?

I didn’t know CT had released it already, thought it was going to be a PDF

One thing CT should fix is to go into more detail and describe things fully - I mean his programs have wave loading, but yet he doesn’t even tell the reader that one should increase loads slightly on the 2nd wave. And other things like that. Considering the audience the book is aimed at, I’m puzzled by these type of omissions.

Another book review.

Gorilla Suit: My Adventures in Bodybuilding
Bob Paris

A very good read.
A very interesting life story.
It oultines the life and times of Bob Paris, his life growing up under an abusive father in a home without love, facing suciide in the face literally and finding his real calling in BodyBuilding.
The trials and tribulations of the professional game with the Weider Brothers - (here he pulls no punches at all - thankfully).
The struggle to hide is sexuality and the competitiveness of the body building world.

Not the best BBg book in the world - but a really refreshingly honest read.

The video is pretty good too! Its bar-none the best video on learning how to do Olympic Lifts!

Do members rate Dietrich Buchenholz’s book ‘the best sports training book ever’?

Super,

I have both the book and video as well. Regarding the video, it is good but the best videos I have come across on learning the Olympic lifts are by World Class Coaching. They are titled “The World’s Most Powerful Lift” for the Clean and variations and “The World’s Fastest Lift” for the Snatch and variations. Very thorough even to the point of an exhaustive mathematics/physics lesson at the end of each tape.

But in terms of an athlete or coach learning how to do the OL would you say these videos are better?
