Bolt's best 100m splits

THIS DATA WAS COMPILED AND WRITTEN BY PJ VAZEL: IT CONSTITUTES ALL OF THE BEST SEGMENTALS EVER RUN BY USAIN BOLT. WE WERE SPECULATING ON HOW FAST BOLT MIGHT YET RUN THE 100M.

This is the best 10m splits recorded for Bolt

RT 0.135 - rounded to 0.14 (Berlin’09 SF)
0-10m 1.66 (Beijing’08)
10-20m 1.03 (Berlin’09)
20-30m 0.90 (Berlin’09)
30-40m 0.86 (Berlin’09)
40-50m 0.84 (Berlin’09)
50-60m 0.83 (Berlin’09)
60-70m 0.80 (Berlin’09)
70-80m 0.81 (Berlin’09)
80-90m 0.82 (Berlin’09)
90-100m 0.84 (Berlin’09)

That’s a total of 9.53 but we could imagine a better reaction time, the limit beeing 0.100 he could run 9.49, and who knows what can be done with wind assistance…

And that’s assuming his underlying strength and speed don’t get any better, which they should do naturally as he approaches his late 20’s.

It still seems fantastical to be talking about times like these and to have them seem so…reasonable?

Wow! I’m a novice in analyzing data, but it looks as if Bolt never slowed down except on the VERY end of the race. But at the end of the race bolt holds back anyway. If you ask me, speed endurance is IN PLACE!

Don’t need much speed endurance when you’re only taking 40 strides.

But I thought that you can only hold top speed for just a few seconds?

So my point is, we all know Bolt is fast, but the numbers indicate that he is maintaining his speed thought the entire race, and a race, although he only takes 9.5 seconds to complete it, is longer then the (I’m guessing) 4-5 seconds that you can hold top speed.

Isn’t it 8 seconds for max intensity

I suppose you are asking about the time needed to reach top speed and not that of maintenance. Two different things.

If max intensity can be held for 8 secs, supposing Usain runs sub max for 40 steps.

His pattern of acceleration and deceleration is not unusual for a world class sprinter. He accelerates up to 60 or 65m and then slowly starts decelerating to about 95% of his max speed. The only sprinter I have seen not loose any speed towards the end of a 100m race is Flojo.

Probably because she did not achieve his maximum velocity, therefore her drop-off was minimal

Speaking of Florence, do any of you guys have her 10m splits from the quarter finals in Seoul where she ran 10.62? PierreJean has mentioned that she hit a 0.92, as opposed to 0.91 in the final, but is there a complete list of splits from 0-100m?
Thanks
