Bolt fee hits $300,000

OSTRAVA: Following an Associated Press report that the world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, would receive an appearance fee of US$300, 000.00 for his 300m run at the Golden Spike Invitational in Ostrava on May 27, trackalerts.com sought confirmation from two sources.

First the super star’s agent, Ricky Simms, responded that the matter was a confidential one and refused to disclose any details.

What the Irishman said was ‘’ Any fees mentioned in the press is just speculation as the contract between the organizer and I is confidential’’. Referring to the world record bonus ($30, 000.00) he was not sure if that was public knowledge but said ‘’The prize money will be published’’.

Meeting Manager, Alfons Juck, commented that he had asked the news agency where they had got the info and referred us to his newsletter, EME News, where it was said that there was no information about the promotion fee and asked to be quoted on the fact that what appeared in the media is ‘’pure speculation’’.

The Slovakian, who is also an athletes representative, added ‘’ “We did not mention any amounts only the one for breaking the global mark in the 300 m which is worth of 30 000 USD. Everything what is mentioned in the media is pure speculation”.

Bolt is making his fourth trip to Ostrava but will compete at the 300m for the first time.

I think it could be over 31. Wrong stage of the year. Besides a WR, what would be a reason to bust a boiler? Isn’t this considered a building year for the elite athletes of the world.

based on where he been timewise in the recent past years(100m9.76may08, 150m14.35may09) i’d say any of those splits up to 250m wouldn’t be anything out of the ordinary for bolt at end of may. he’d still be building even if he were to run those splits(cat could prob run 24.0X) for a 250m race if he run one at the peak of his season, say mid august.

tgay is down to run on the straight street track, undecided what distance. im thinkin he could run 19.4X if he runs the 2, 14.4X at the 150 post. if he runs 150m race maybe he could beat the 14 35 mark by bolt. powell could prob run

if powell entered and run the 150m straight he should be good for a 14.4x, 200maybe 19.5x-19.6x(if visual rig still occur in last 50m of his 200m more likely 19.7x-19.8x)
