Hey Guys,
I went to my local GNC and bought some Biotest Surge. It was on special at -25% off. I asked the saleman why the reduction, he said the product had passed it’s expiry date. And he also mentionned that the expiry date doesn’t mean anything. So I bought one. My question, does the expiry date on Biotest products mean anything?
I really don’t know as far as health supplements go, but for OTC meds and perscription meds the common rule of thumb on expiry dates is 18 months (1.5 years) post purchase/dispensation date.
Anyone know about supplements?
i’ve heard most supplement companies leave a bit of a buffer. so if this is true you probably have atleast a couple of months after the expiry date on the tub.
It tastes funny to me. I don’t if it because it passed the expiry date or because it has to taste like that.
I tried mixing with water. And another shot with milk. Still not very appealing. Does anybody have any suggestions?
biotest powerdrive tastes preety bad too. All that type of stuff does. Just suck it up hold your breath and down it! 
Any idea, if MRP Low Card tastes better?
i think the low carb grow tastes better but i’ve only had it in chocolate. i don’t like vanilla protein shakes and i don’t like surge that much either, i just hold my breath and drink it fast.
I wouldn’t worry about the expiration date. Like t-bone said, there’s a margin of error, same with medication, mostly for QC and legal reasons. Most meds are good for a couple years after their expiration date, and then simply lose potency.
And yes, Surge does taste a little funny. That’s because they had to mask the hydrolized whey, which would otherwise make you gag.

However I just bought some designer whey cos they were out of EAS - I can only describe it as ‘Brown’ flavour - its gross and I’ve got 5lbs of it yuk lol
IMO… powerdrive tastes OK, designer whey tastes horrible when mixed with anything, low carb grow is actually pretty good when mixed with milk or coconut milk/water, don’t like it too much with water alone… too much sucralose aftertaste.

The surge that youi bought wasn’t expired GNC or any nutrition store in canada any way can’t sell expired product. What the deal was is that it is going to expire soon like with in the month or 2 or 3 months down the road. It is still good as long as it was sealed once opened i would consume it as fast as possible like the other guy said companies leave a little bit of a window. If they did sell you expired product they can be shut down if they ever get busted.
