I had the 2nd qualifying meet for 2 days (wednesday/thursday). So whats the best set up to go about to be 100% peaked for this last meet, I felt my top speed already peaked in the 100s btw.
I realized from the qualifying meet the weak before I was A LOT faster in this meet (3 tenth PB in a week into a headwind) but two things done differently:
dropped squats for 2 weeks now (till after this last meet) for first time ever more than 1 week
trained very light in between meets, whats best way to be completely fresh and CNS sharp given I run about 11.0 second speed but run 11.30 (wind + speed endurance cost/s me a bit)
thanks for help, greatly appreciated. sorry for asking so many questions
I’d stick 2 tempo workouts in there rather than just rest… they’ll do alot for recovery. And I’d keep the initial speed session very light and move the bounds and weights to Monday after practice… OR you might want to leave them out completely as you’ve got a lot of rounds for a stimulus.
Wed: 100 heats, 100 finals, 4x1 relay
Thurs: 200 heats, 200 finals
Fri: rest
Sat: light acc session (4x20m blocks)
Sun: tempo
Mon: mandatory school practice (starts + relay hand offs + something else?) MAYBE 20m bounding + power cleans and/or clean pulls (at 60% 1RM) + bench press till 90% 1RM
tues: tempo
wed: warm-up
thurs: 4x1 relay heats
fri: 100 heats/finals + 4x1 finals
sat: 200 heats/finals
I found I feel better during the big meets when tempo is left out and during the rest days i just do static stretching + lots of dynamic stretching at home.
