hey in the summer im gonna be working on my game day in and day out. i just need to know how to structure a program with basketball drills. should the drills be the same everyday? and then once i start to progress and get real good at a drill, should i replace that one particular drill with somethin else. can someone help me with designing a program with bball drills that i can work on everyday, any tips suggestions?
I’m not sure I would be able to help, but what is your background info? How old, bball experience, strenghts, weaknesses, etc? If you are going every day I would switch it up a little bit from day to day, but still cover the fundamentals and what you need to work on. I would say the biggest mistake bball players make in working on their game is that they don’t make it game like. It is better to work fundamentally sound with great intensity for 20 minutes than to walk around chucking up threes for an hour. Too many guys just “shoot” in my opinion.
naw mine aint ognna be like that…i know what u mean though.
im gonna get my self tired and shoot in game jumpers and all that kinda stuff…
ive been playin ball since i was like 6 my strengths are probably im quick off the dribble but sometimes i lose control of the ball but dont get me wrong ima pretty good ball handler but needs tons of work…i think my shooting is good i have good form
i need to know how to look at my game and see what my weaknesses are i suck that that…i really cant find weaknesses im confused can someone give me some tips to help
can you go to your non dominant hand off the dribble kobe? can you slide and keep with your man all the time? can you dribble the ball up in pressure?
basicly look at you as your opponent, if you were playing against yourself what would you make the opponent(yourself) do? go left? take long jump shots? etc
so how do i practice those aspects u just named indivdually with drills?
just work on them, if you have trouble dribbling with non dominant hand start dribbling with it alot more, have trouble shooting off the dribble to the right start working on that more
just have to turn your weaknesses into strengths while keeping your strengths a strength
I agree, you just have to work on that stuff. I am right handed, but actually could shoot off the dribble and take the ball to the hoop better to my left because I was always working on going to my left more than my right.
Do you have anyone to work out with? I think it helps to have someone to play one on one with, but they have to be of equal ability or better than you. Then you can really evaluate what your strengths and weaknesses are. You can’t do it all the time, and you have to try to make the one on one game as 5 on 5 like as possible (limit the # of dribbles a little bit), but a couple games of one on one per week might be a good idea.
I wish I would have spent more time getting stronger as a player. I spent a lot of time working out, but I didn’t know much about how to train. I wasted a lot of time and effort doing things that didn’t help very much. Are you lifting weights? I for sure would be squatting.
ya but im so paranoid about things. sometimes ill be practicing and ill be like ok what if maybe im not practicing on my weaknesses and this has just been a waste of time, im so paranoid and picky about things
My trainer tells me, focus on the BASICS and everything else will follow from that. Really work on form and the beginner stuff, once that is second nature to you then all the advanced stuff just happens in games.
Spend a lot of time with form shooting, start in really close to the net or even against a wall. Develop the muscle memory for a perfect shot and the crazy finger rolls and flying jumpshots will come naturally from that once you have the touch.
Practice the basic dribbling drills, once you have a sick cross over that you can do in your sleep, behind the back spin dribbles just happen once you need them!
Most importantly make sure you’re visualizing all this stuff. Shoot free throws in your head, go through your form shooting, imagine yourself dribbling up and down the court with perfect form!
