geez, did you see the guy in 2nd place after Pat in the 200m. 17yr old… Pretty good.

he’s a good talent at his age over all 3 sprint events, but apart from Kurt, Aaron some of our sprinters look like they in for a hard time in Beijing next week.

with a 3.6 not anything to get excited about.

and one of our 400m girls heading over with a 55.70 under her belt…

A lot of coaches march around with an air of superiority because their kid won the nationals or some such event during their domestic summer, but they don’t look so clever in the middle of their off-season when they’re trying to find that summer form to compete with at the major international meets on a northern hemisphere schedule.

What it means anyway is that far from the coach’s training program doing the job, most of the reason for the success was the comparatively high intensity and number of races their kid ran, as well as adequate recovery between races during their summer.

theres alot of chest beating going on at the respective State and Aust allschools each year…

Taiwan has/had the same problem where the coach of a national winner would parade around and receive an unbelievable amount of accolades from all corners but the performance would not even rate anywhere else. As evident by their worst ever showing at this years Asian Junior Games. a 17 yr old has gone from 21.40 to be run out of his heat in the 200m with mid 22’s within 6 months for many reasons injury not included.

IT seems to be a problem in Aust.

We want to be big fish in a little pond, stuff that be the best.

Only a handful of athletes want better than to be the best in the state/country.
