ato's quote

“I feel like the guy who you think is dead in the movie, and then they cut back to him and he’s no longer in the spot where he lay a second ago - worse, the gun that was next to him is gone - figure it out…” - Ato Boldon, August 4, 2003

after readin this, i was like whoa. look for ato to return into da mix of things!!

Since Arnold is running for Governor of California, we’ll assume the he won’t be back to take on Ato. Another way to look at this is to assume that the coroner has already shown up, made the chalk outline, confiscated the weapon and taken the body away to put it on ice.

My question is, how come the chalk-outline guys are talking so much before even posting a good performance. They should keep their thoughts to themselves and let the running do the talking. Unless, of course, the talking is basically an overcompensation reflex to make up for something that is not going to happen.

Charlie has always referred to how the times in training reflect what is going to happen in the races. What kind of feedback are these guys getting from their training runs to make them talk so boastfully?

Ah! California! The state is screwed (mostly cause Enron and a pack of their scumbag pals stole the state’s money). Now some of these same people have organized an overturning of the electoral process to punish the Dem Governor for letting them steal the loot!!
The arguement goes like this:
The state has been run by politicians. Do you really think politicians should be trusted to fix it?
As pointed out on a political commentary last nite. Your plumbing is screwed. It was put together by plumbers. Why should you let them try to fix it now? It’s time for a change. We’ll try it without pipes next time!
Arnold said running for Gov was his toughest decision since his first bikini wax!
Come on down Gov Gary Coleman (so far the best qualified candidate)!

I’d love to hear P.J. Rourkes’ commnets on this Governorship race …

Well after all he has achieved and knowing his mentality - I won’t bet against Ahnuld winning it though …

[ …Oh yeh - excellent documentary on Arnie last night on C4 - any Eire, NI E4 or UK viewers see it? …]

I saw the documentary as well, and watched Conan afterwards! He’s shrewd I’ll give him that, but he still strikes me as a complete idiot. Talk about wooden. I’ll not be suprised if he succeeds in his political career though, Arnie for president that’s what I say. At least it would be entertaining. My God America is screwed, let alone California!

He had a few laughable quotes in the documentary;

“When I get the pump it feels like when I cum with a women…”

Another referring to his adulterous behaviour;

“Eatin’s not cheating…”

Good ol’ Arnie!

If Arnie can run, why not Ato? Surely we could get him 65 signatures!

Well Justy - I’d never call him an idiot whatever about anything else - his mind games with Lou Ferrigno especially in the film ‘Pumping Iron’ are legendary examples of famous sporting Psych-outs …

I think he is far smarter than many of us give him credit for - his charm is apparently unrivalled and so too his determination - and I’m not even a fan!

65 votes for Ato? - Sure and maybe Tim Lane could convince him to run?

sighhh Canadians:rolleyes:
What’s wrong with Arnold running? It’s a free country.

In a free country, elections (the will of the people) must stand. When a group of scumbags can successfully conspire to overturn an election they couldn’t win by means that are intended to be reserved for cases of treason and felony conviction, the free country is in trouble.
First there was the attempt on Clinton. Then there was the Florida fiasco. Now, this. The American People should be appalled.
Anyone has the right to run in a duly constituted election.
I wouldn’t have a problem with Arnold if he wasn’t one of the plotters.

http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/elections_recall_faqs.htm#1

A recall is perfectly legal. It has been in california law since 1911, people are allowed to do this. Also they need at least “897,158 valid signatures” on a petition to go to a vote over whether or not to recall the governor. The people of california have the final say, if their happy with Gray Davis then he will stay.

Good luck then.

??? I’m sorry Charlie, I don’t understand what you mean by your reply. I’m not joking, I’m serious.

Still when it comes down to it let’s see what happens at WC in Track. Looking at WC in swimming…it seems that that our sister above needs Snelling or Bergan back after the brief success of 92 and 96.

As for Ato, why is he in ice Number 2?

If you aren’t frightened by these tactics to overturn an election, that’s fine. Personally, I think this will be a test case for a future in other states where un-electables will use it to gain power. Remember, it won’t often happen for a reason you agree with.

I’m simply going on what I’ve seen from him the last two years. In the last few years, track sprinting has been more about trash talking and ducking competitors than showing by example. In his prime, running sub-10s week to week, Ato would be a solid favourite. When was the last time he ran under 10.10 sec?

But, after seeing Seabiscuit, I’m not about to count anyone out. Nice movie.

NumberTwo did you read the book? Those guys did some crazy things to lose weight. Like making a hole in a huge pile of horsecrap and laying in there as the horse crap fermented and gave of heat. Do you think lying in ferementing horse crap is a good recovery method? It’s like nature’s sauna!

Charlie only time will tell if elections all over the country will be overturned and challenged, but I doubt it.

Yeah Terminator… I just finished the book the day before seeing the flick. Very interesting details about the jockeys and the trainers. It’s amazing what lengths people will go to in order to win.

Nothing is surprising to me about the US in terms of politics. That country has the most capacity to provide visionary leadership for the world in terms of resources and ideas, but ends up producing leaders of the incredible quality of Ronald Reagan and George Bush junior.

As Terminator indicates, the electoral process in California does allow this situation to arise despite Governor Davis having been elected.

The question is whether Californians have the awareness and/or capacity to elect a competent leader. Given the seriousness of many issues, in terms of income inequality and the environment, i hope that Californians can elect someone that is more committed to balancing economic, social and environmental dimensions. I hope that Arnold, with his rhetoric raving on about the US being the land of opportunity, is exposed in terms of his many shortcomings and that California stays Democrat.

Charlie,
I could not agree with you more. Its very frustrating living in the U.S. knowing how badly the political and judicial sytems are. In Florida, over 500,00 people’s (the majority were African Americans) votes did not count due to a very biased screening system provided by a company called Database who Katherine Harris hired. And isn’t it oh so ironic that Katherine gets elected to congress after? I strongly believe that one of the reasons George Jr. was able to get away with preventing these people from voting was because the majority of them were black. Any other ethnic group and it would have been different. Once again African Americans bear the burden despite building this country with their own bear hands. Politics in this country are essentially…a joke. Most of the people who run for governor, congress, the senate, and the president do not represent the majority who are mostly lower class and democratic. People get too caught up in whether someone is a Republican or Democrat instead of voting for the one who can do the best job. Enron screwed over California quite badly and lo and behind we come to find out that Kenneth Lay was the presidents shadow advisor. Cali is screwed as far as their states budget and now all of America is facing the hugest deficit we’ve ever had. It is costing us 4 billion a month to occupy IRAQ. Does anyone in the U.S. no why the gas prices are so high and the oil prices are going up? Didn’t we just steal 537 oil rigs from Iraq? The U.S. will never have the best people/person in various offices because for the most part, there is not an equal chance for the best people/person. Many other people are completely over looked because of the color of their skin or gender. Its starting to feel like George Orwell’s book 1984.

Doesn’t really matter - anything you write there critical about him or his performances (not disrespectful or bad at all) is removed the same day…
