asafa powell high knee (high-def. quality)

can now see and understand one of the training components that helps powell run with that “nearly impossible to duplicate” short-man style. Surely he could do these high-knees(quick-leg drill if you will) more relaxed(resulting faster movement) then demonstrated in this video. I’m guessing he was just showing the basic movement.

Charlie, would you slow down your athletes if they were doing strength endurance high knees, to a slower speed of movement, relative to the faster speed of movement and level of relaxation at shorter distances such as 10-15m quick-leg high knee drills?
If so, at what strength endurance distance would you have them begin to slow down? (80m,100m,120m,150m)???
Or would you only allow longer distances over 10-15m as long as the high level of relaxation and speed of movement remained relatively the same as these shorter distances?

I’m not sure I understand the question. What is it you think Asafa is doing that should be done differently?

Don’t think he should do anything different and am not criticizing them or the training in anyway whatsoever or anything along those lines, as you see I’m quietly a very big fan powell and MVP. Was just wondering and trying to figure how much quicker he could go doing the high knee drills.

also at what distance, once the high knees become strength endurance(50m-150m or more) do you slow down the speed of movement, if at all, so as to have the hip flexors activated for the entire distance?

You have to go for full extention, so speeding it up might interfere with that.
