Does anybody know, or have an opinion on aquatic plyos. Doesn’t make sense to me unless you are doing rehab or training someone significantly overwieight. Any suggestions, comments appreciated in advance.
The movements are not plyometric since the eccentric loading is not enough to create an elastic response. Of course puddles could be used but for pool work the movements are excellent for conditioning purposes since aqua running does little for the heart and lungs and tightens hip flexors of runnners.
I understand that. There is a guy in Allen, TX trying to promote this program as the end all be all. He says his kid, don’t know the age, has increased his vertical over 10 inches.
This is all heresay from an old paitent of mine, I told her the same thing, it’s not plyomtrics. She just thinks I am closed minded. Any other feedback out there?
Maybe just resisted jumping ie, jumping movement in water. This could help increase vert jump but so could jump squats.
Speed strength exercises may help those at lower levels but I don’t see Boo Shexnayder using them for LSU jumpers! Where are all the NBA dunking programs incorporating the pool? Low level athletes respond from just basic exercise…still she needs(old patient) needs to show evidence not rumor.
Clemson,
Thank you, Just wanted some input that I could print from here, and give to her, I was hoping for some of the other regulars to chime in on it. This should work though. Thanks for backin me up.
