Anyone tried the 'Nike Free'?

Has anyone tried the new ‘Nike Free’? I like my shoes light and flexible and hate regular shoes. This could be what I have been looking for.

I havn’t but Nike gave away loads of pairs to people in my club (when i wasn’t there :frowning: ). In general people say they are good but that you can’t exactly just start running in them straight off you need to build up slowly. Also the front seems to wear quite a bit - but I only noticed this with pole vaulters so perhaps that is why. Personally i alway do some bear footed work on mats each week (80m long mats) I think this with EMS helps with the feet.

there is a short review of this kind of shoes in “The Coach” journal, Issue 23, July/August, 2004, pp. 74-75, for those of you that can grab it…

i don’t think they’ve got a link to a site or something…

hope it helps though!

I think they’re great! Because they’re so much more flexible than a standard trainer, Nike claim that it will help to improve the strength of the muscles in the foot. Although I personally wouldn’t wear them outdoors straight away, they do take some getting used to but after that they should be fine. Ideal for doing drills in I’d say…

They had a short article in ESPN the magazine and the shoe was getting rave reviews. U of Colorado has been using them and has said the shoes have helped their program.

You can’t run very hard in them…they fall apart…no run ins on grass… stuff like that…they’re ok for tempo…also fall apart if you try to jump in them

I don’t think they are designed for these anyway…

Yep, they arn’t for running hard in! Just for warm up and tempo on grass. You can’t use them for things they arn’t designed for.
