Another unprecedented success for the 28th Olympic Week!

From last Sunday to Thursday, thousands of kids flocked to the Ouchy lakeside and The Olympic Museum to try out various sports. Capoeira, taekwondo, wall-climbing, fencing, basketball, archery – the possibilities were great with more than 40 activities on the programme!
A last foray into Chinese culture
The children also had the opportunity to get to know Chinese culture for one last time in the workshops: kites, wushu, jianzi, diabolo, music, calligraphy and even ravioli-making. These workshops sparked a real passion. Most of them were full from early in the morning.
Sport & Journalism Workshop
In parallel, the Sport & Journalism workshop invited participants to play reporter-photographers. Over the course of a day, supervised by Anne Brüschweiler (journalist and director of Grain des mots) and Arnaud Meylan (photographer), the youngsters went on the hunt for personalities from Olympic Week, then compiled a profile of the person of their choice. Volunteers, sports club managers, Museum guides and hosts, and children taking part in the Week’s activities - many of them were to be found the following day in the Olympic Week Gazette.
Four athletes honoured
Finally, four athletes were honoured during the event: Kaveh Mehrabi (Iranian badminton player, qualified for the Beijing Games), Sergei Aschwanden (judo bronze medallist at the Beijing Games), Donghua Li (gold medallist in the pommel horse in 1996 in Atlanta) and Anne-Sophie Thilo (sailor, qualified for the Beijing Games) spoke to the children about their experiences at the Games. The children then bombarded them with questions before leaving with a signed photo.
