Week-9 Friday
Workout: Satan’s Fartleck. HIISSSSS Well we did a ladder 1@P+1r+2@P+2r+3@P+3r+1@P+1r… and so on. 1=one minute @P= at race pace and r= rest or steady state pace. This workout was much similar to my last fartlec (in january) only in january I had different pieces of the puzzle. I had done a weight and hills regime in the weeks prior to doing the fartlek and the run was aerobically exhausting and my legs felt good, this time I had done a distance and anaerobic regime the weeks prior and so my legs were dying by the end of it. I did 4 sessions and a mile warmup and a mile cooldown. That was an intense session, but not as draining on saturday as I would have thought.

Workout: 3x1000 at threshold pace 3x1000 at RP 6x200 w/200 jog recov @4:40 mile pace.
Well, the first 3 were easy. The first of the second three was kind of hard, and the fifth one my 1 hour of sleep caught up with me. I ran really bad. My sixth one I just “did”, but I managed to only go 3 seconds slower than my first time. The 6x200’s I were strangely easier than the 1000’s. 2000m warmup and 2000m cooldown
Splits on first 800 of 1000’s: <2:45 sec goal> 2:48 2:46 2:43 Faster 2:47 2:59<bad> 2:51 <so-so>
Splits on 200s: <34 sec goal> 36, 35, 34, 33, 32, 32

Week-10 Saturday
Probably the worst race/day combination of my life. I was excited to run the Fabled Mt. Sac course, but I jogged the last mile due to an ethereal stumoch cramp. Then, my pen pal, who I’d been dying to meet again, split soon after her race.
Ugliest time ever 17:13

We went for a 12 miler, and I really pushed the pace coming back. I ran about 1:18 minutes for the 12mile, which is close to a 10k PR, both ways, but my 10k pr is really weak… soo…

Workout: 40 minute steady state. I wanted to push today like I pushed yesterday, so I did. Coming back Ivan was pretty much kicking, so as a test to myself I kept up with him for about 3/4 of a mile. I had to ice bath hard…

Week-11 Wedsnday
Workout 2x1200 4x800 4x200… Coach wanted us to gel together as a team and for us back runners to close the gap with our top four. It was kind of frustrating, today I didn’t want to push to the limit and beyond. Coach wanted us to gel as a team, so I tried, but the varsity seemed intent on blazing the 1200’s. it frustrated me, “how does he expect me to keep up with them if they’re going to go THAT fast?”… I ask myself that same question now and it seems ridiculous, but danm. The 800’s and 200’s on teh track…
SQUEEEEEL <tires breaking> I’m going to leave what I wrote, but I’m starting over. Positive attitude this time.

Week-11 Wedsnday
Workout 2x1200 4x800 4x200 Danm, we did some fast intervals today. Coach wanted us to gel as a team and I got pumped up about it. I pushed the first 1200 and kept pretty close to the varsity guys, but the next one they must’ve ran a good 9 seconds quicker! Danm! shrugs I picked it up a lot too, must’ve been 6 seconds quicker than my first. My 800’s weren’t quite what I expected, I chose to drop out of the 3rd one, bc of that ethereal stumoch cramp, but my last one I got back in the game and ran pretty danm well. The 200’s were kind of wierd, my best buddy “interval cramp” showed up on the third one (wierd on the third one’s eh?) and I jogged the last 100, I did the fourth one on my heels, it was pretty wierd.

Week-11 Saturday: Monter Bay League Championships
Well, I decided to run today. I got my foot taped up and it didn’t bother me a bit, not a single step the whole race. Only I got a side stitch from hell, my left thigh cramped up, and my right shin cramped too. I’ve never had so many things go wrong in one race before. I ran the ugliest POS race ever.
